September is almost gone and so is the summer with its warm days and long evenings. We usually think of this month as the returning point to the normal routines (which is a bittersweet feeling). On one hand, the familiar habits are comfortable and reassuring; on the other hand, they might end up being repetitive and boring.
How can we enter the new season with a more optimistic view?
Bear with me, and I’ll give you a few suggestions…
THE AUTUMN MONTHS
The beginning of the season is marked by the Autumn equinox, which happens between September 22 and 24 every year, and it announces the start of the astronomical autumn in the Northern Hemisphere. This phenomenon occurs because the sun passes over the Earth’s equator twice a year (one in Autumn and one in Spring).
HOW TO REMAIN ACTIVE | AUTUMN ACTIVITIES AND IDEAS
Soon, we’ll see the days getting shorter and colder, but we don’t have to be discouraged; there’s still hope.
AUTUMN RECIPES AND HEALTHY EATING
The change of weather is here, and we must get adapted by tweaking our daily habits and diet. Even if you are not a foodie or can’t master cooking at all, you can still get the best of the season by enjoying its offerings.
It’s the perfect time for enjoying casseroles and homemade soups or trying some home canning and tasting the seasonal fruits and vegetables. This will help us to get attuned to the changes taking place in our environment.
AUTUMN DÉCOR AND BEAUTY
By embellishing our home and environment, we can beat the melancholy that autumn often brings. As we are also getting closer to Halloween, maybe it’s time to tackle some creative ideas and start with the preparations.
Furthermore, if any excesses were committed during the summer, it’s time for detox, discipline and exercise. We want to look our best and be ready for the winter and the holiday season.
AUTUMN FASHION AND OUTFITS
It’s the ideal time for comfortable clothing that can still make a statement. Take out the jumpers, socks and other warm garments and don’t be afraid to experiment with layering.

As the warm days are left behind, we can plan new activities and events. It’s essential to make the most of the shorter days by remaining active and keeping healthy habits.
Moreover, this season is perfect for trekking and hiking. There are thousands of attractive routes all over the world that we can enjoy either on our own or in good company.
For the most adventurous: consider some European escapes.
WORK AND STUDY
For the students out there, you know what this season means. For the others, it’s a good idea to learn something new and exciting as there will be many long (and dark days) ahead.
In my case, E-learning platforms like Coursera, Udemy and Free Code Camp have become good sources to learn new skills. What would you like to learn or improve? There are thousands of (free and paid) resources out there, I’m sure there is something for everyone.
Here, some wallpapers for daily inspiration.
Autumn is a great time of the year, we can slow down and reorganise our daily routines by cleaning, scheduling and prioritising.
